Fault Sealing Evaluation of a Strike-Slip Fault Based on Normal Stress: A Case Study from Eastern Junggar Basin, NW China

The sealing of a fault zone has been focus for geological studies in the past decades. majority previous have focused on extensional regimes, where displacement pressure difference between rock and reservoir was used to evaluate fault-sealing property from basic principle sealing. When considering difference, impact gravity considered, whereas horizontal stress ignored. In this study, we utilize as an index capacity strike-slip faults, which both impacts rocks are all integrated. By calculating values σH/σV σh/σV vicinity planes, coefficient K compaction normal planes then determined. revealing quantitative relationship rocks, burial depth clay content, reservoirs were calculated. results suggest that is not only related magnitude plane, but also regime. content important factor controlling faults.
